Universe is the world's first website builder designed for mobile phones. Our mission is to empower everyone to build the internet, starting with serious websites built in under a minute.

We're looking for a Senior API & Database Engineer to help accelerate our mission. As a Senior API Engineer your primary focus will be writing excellent code, mentoring other engineers, and maintaining code quality through code reviews. You will help translate business requirements into plans for database structure, create data migration plans, ensure that our databases queries are efficient, and that our databases scale well. You will contribute code to our backend services, adding endpoints, integrating with other other services (internal and external) and writing integration tests.

We are currently transitioning our backend services from a monolith Node.js application to a microservice architecture with a mix of Vapor Swift and Node.js applications. Most of our data is stored using PostgreSQL. We are hosting our services using build packs on Heroku but are transitioning to deploying using Docker. We take testing and documentation seriously, and are in the process of adding coverage for both to all of our services.

Our app empowers everyone to express themselves through a website, reach their audience, or build a business. We are looking for someone passionate about performance and scaling to help us as we look to expand the power of the web to everyone.
